What is imephu?

imephu is a community driven reporting application for statistical reasons. imephu primary aim is to log what has been logged already with the councils around South Africa, so that we as a community can record the issues in our own format. This way we the community can track:

  • What needs to be done.
  • When it was reported.
  • How long did it take to resolve if it was resolved?
  • Are there problem areas for delivery or crime?
  • Stock theft is a massive problem in SA however without a community statistic we have no way of knowing where the issues are and where the hotspots are.
  • Rape is often not reported and our hope via the app is that we will gain a true reflection of the intensity and spread of this violent act has in our country.
How can I get involved?

Simply download the app and feed the app. Feed the app when you see a pothole, feed the app when you are victim of a crime. Feed the app information when you report streetlights not working or you have reported a water leak.

I am a community leader and would like to view information of our area is this possible?

Yes, we are searching for community leaders to share the app with their community and we in turn will share the reported information with you. We will share what is reported where and the images were submitted, we will not share any user information or contact information whatsoever, so please don’t even ask ????.

Is my information anonymous?

Yes, we do not share user information with any one whatsoever in any way or form, we take privacy very seriously and it is knitted into the ethos of our goals and application.

Why you doing this?

Its time we roll up our sleeves and get stuck in to make this country a better place for all. We need to work together in a positive direction for the benefit of all South Africans. All too often we see reports on service delivery however as a community we have no collective understanding of what has been reported nor when. With the app we will change this with the community involvement. When information is shared, we have information of what as reported and when. This creates a reference and a gauge for measuring the council effectives, or in ability which ever it is. We cannot as a community gauge nor rate our councils unless we have a benchmark of what we are measuring.

What is does it cost?

Nothing, zip zero, free to download and free to use. You are however charged for the data you use; this is payable to networks like any other app you use.

Who made the app?

We at Elula Online have made the app and we aim to give back to the community in our own little way working together with all South Africa for a better country for all.

Do you communicate with Government?

No, we are an independent body and aim to work with community leaders who in turn with the correct channels can address issues and hotspots effectively in the communities that are affected. We do not dictate on how this is done however we do request that it is done effectively and through the correct channels and the success of the project be shared with us to share with all communities.

I want more information and to speak with someone?

With pleasure without the community there is no app and then no stats. So please click on the contact us form and drop as your details, or call us on 011 704 5402.
